Free WiFi For Colleges; Reliance Jio – Punjab Govt
Reliance Jio and Punjab government had signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) to provide free WiFi facility in all state-run colleges, which includes engineering colleges, industrial institutes, and polytechnics. The step to provide free internet to students will for sure improve academics and will also encourage to add their contribution to Digital India initiative by cashless transactions and so on.

Charanjit Singh Channi, Technical Education Minister said that Reliance Jio will set up the infrastructure for the purpose, bearing the cost of equipment and electricity required for the functionality. And the company will also block inexpedient websites as per Center’s direction with core security.
