Ericsson has just become the first company to introduce a 5G network platform.This network comprises of a 5G core, radio and transport portfolio, along with digital support systems, transformation services, and security which will facilitate current networks to evolve into the next generation network.

Ericsson has also predicted that the next generation mobile networks would represent a US$582 Billion market by the end of 2026, which means a potential of 34% increase in revenues of MNO (Mobile Network Operators).

Ericsson 5G Network Platform Features

Ericsson’s 5G core system will be capable of 5G use cases based on network slicing, which in turn allows MNOs to operate a dedicated virtual network with specific functionality with a common network.

The platform includes;

  • Secure service quality with reduced cost
  • Distributed Cloud to facilitate services that require short latency by moving applications
  • 5G transformation services
