Using 7nm process, the Snapdragon 845 should be found inside next year’s high-end smartphones (flagship) and we expect that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be the first to come with this chipset next year. Other chipsets will also be produced using 7nm process next year and will come from Huawei’s Kirin, MediaTek, Nvidia and even from Xiaomi (may be).

Currently, the Snapdragon 835 SoC is built using the 10nm process. Dropping from 10nm to 7nm will result in significantly faster chips, with performance improvement by 25% to 35% and will also reduce the chipset size, which could apparently help in reduction in smartphone size, when compared to the current 10nm process found in the likes of the Snapdragon 835.

In addition to that, Qualcomm is expected to unveil a new mid-to-high-end chip called the Snapdragon 660. It features four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.9GHz, Adreno 512 GPU, X10 LTE modem, supports Quick Charge 4.0 and LPDDR4X 1866 MHz RAM and UFS 2.1 flash memory.
