So as to continue the league today Xiaomi unveiled its latest budget offering the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Both these smartphones offer bang for the buck. Xiaomi has upgraded the note series in almost every aspect be it the new camera, much powerful processor, new design, better RAM and storage options and the new 18:9 display looks really pleasing. So here’s a detailed comparison of the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

It is really good to see that Xiaomi has finally adopted the new 18:9 screen to body ratio both the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro feature the exact same display. Both these devices sport a large 15.2cm (5.99-inch) Full HD display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass.

The Redmi Note 5 has an aluminum body and it which looks premium and it inherits the exact same backside from its predecessor Redmi Note 4. Things change drastically when we discuss the design of Redmi Note 5 Pro as it looks very well inspired by the design language of the iPhone X.

The Redmi 5 Pro houses a dual camera setup with a well-placed fingerprint sensor on the backside of the device. Considering the Price at which these devices are sold, Xiaomi has done an excellent job with design and display.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor. The process is based on 14nm architecture and to handle gaming and graphics intensive tasks the device rely on the Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi Note 5 is available in 3GB/4GB RAM variants coupled with 32GB/64GB storage respectively with external storage support of up to 128GB.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro packs more powerful 1.8Ghz Octa-Core Snapdragon 636 processor (first on any smartphone) coupled with Adreno 509 GPU. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is available in 4GB/6GB (LPDDR4x) RAM variants with 32GB/64GB storage options.

Both these devices are extremely powerful and can handle day to day tasks very efficiently but the Redmi Note 5 Pro takes a slight edge over the Redmi Note 5 due to it’s much newer and more powerful Snapdragon 636 processor and a better GPU.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 features a 12-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and dual-tone LED Flash. The camera produces decent images in bright sunlight but struggles in dark environments. On the front side, you get a 5-megapixel sensor with a selfie-light module.The camera is capable of recording 4K video, which is a decent addition by Xiaomi.

Things get serious with the Redmi Note 5 Pro as it features a dual camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, while the 5-megapixel secondary sensor has a f/2.0 aperture. The dual camera setup helps the Redmi Note 5 Pro to get all the nifty features of a dual camera setup like portrait mode and better low light photography.

On the front side, it has a  20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor complete with an LED selfie-light module. So in every aspect the camera on the Redmi Note 5 Pro outperforms the Redmi Note 5 making it a much better option if you want a better camera on your smartphone.

Both the devices support exactly same connectivity features they offer support to 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS + GLONASS a 3.5mm headphone jack is present on both the devices and a Micro-USB port for charging and transferring data.

Both these devices are powered by a 4000mAh battery, with 5V/2A fast charging. The battery life is decent and can power the device for a continuous full day. Both the smartphones are available in 3-different color variants and offer perfect value for your money.
