Xiaomi will be launching its flagship offering the Mi 8 on May 31 in Shenzhen. The smartphone will also mark the 8th Year Anniversary of Xiaomi. Well, a hands-on video of Mi 8 has already surfaced on the internet. So here’s everything we know about Xiaomi Mi 8.
A Reddit post claims that Xiaomi Mi 8 will initially be sold only in its home market. But the company plans to make it available in other countries as well. The official poster appearing on the online discussion platform suggests Xiaomi Mi 8 will be released in eight other countries soon after the official launch on May 31.
Xiaomi Mi 8 should become available in China first. Later, the smartphone should roll out to other markets including India, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Italy, Russia, Spain and Egypt. Xiaomi has been expanding its presence in the European market and has also opened its own retail stores to directly reach consumers.
Xiaomi will announce Mi 8 on May 31 along with many other products such as Mi Band 3, MIUI 10 and more. But leaksters are not sparing any details till the launch. Latest to join the list is the retail box of Mi 8, which confirms that the smartphone will have slim bezels and a notch.
It will come in few variants, one of which is the 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. There are other models with 8GB of RAM and bigger storage options. The highlighting feature of Mi 8 is the dual GPS module, no 3.5mm audio jack (instead Type-C audio is inducted), and 3D face recognition. There is also a rumor of Xiaomi using in-display fingerprint sensor.
Xiaomi Mi 8: Renders And Leaks
The video clearly depicts the amount of resemblance between the Mi 8 and iPhone X. Well, you get a strikingly similar vertical camera setup, an almost bezel-less design and a notch that houses the front- camera, speakers and a proximity sensor.
The smartphone also depicts that the design ergonomics of the iPhone X. Apart from that, it comes with a translucent back, that enhances the overall looks. Lastly, the smartphone features a dual camera setup with LED flash between the two sensors.
Xiaomi Mi 8: Expected Specifications
The first thing visible from the translucent back is the Snapdragon chipset. Since the smartphone will be a flagship we can easily except that it will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor. We can expect either 6GB or 8GB RAM variants coupled with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone may feature face-unlock as well.
