A few months ago, we wrote an article titled as 5 common Macbook issue and how to fix them. One of the highlighted issues was the problems users faced with MacBooks keyboard. Well, Apple has officially recognized that there were some major flaws in the MacBook’s sticky keyboard. So, Apple is offering free repairs and refunds for past repairs.

MacBook Sticky Keyboard: The Issues
There was a whole host of problems that users faced with their MacBooks keyboard. Consequently, many users got their keyboards repaired by Apple. Presently, Apple has pointed out three major problems with MacBook keyboards that will be fixed free of cost. Furthermore, if any user paid Apple for fixing these issues in the past he/she will be eligible for refunds. The problems mentioned were:
- Letters or characters repeat unexpectedly
- Letters or characters do not appear
- Key(s) feel “sticky” or do not respond in a consistent manner

Eligible Models
Apple also curated a list of MacBooks that are eligible for the free repairs, if users faced any of the three above mentioned issues. These are the laptops eligible for free repairs.
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015)
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2016)
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)

Repair Process
If you faced any of the above-mentioned problems and own any of the above mentioned MacBook, then you are eligible for free repairs and refunds. Visit the nearest Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They will service eligible MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards, free of charge.
However, the type of the service will be determined after the keyboard is examined and may involve the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard.
