One of the major downsides of Macbook’s is their poor gaming performance. To solve the problem people rely on external GPU’s to step-up gaming performance on MacBooks. Well, this time around Apple has worked with BlackMagic and launched the BlackMagic External GPU. So here’s everything you need to know about the new external GPU that is launched alongside with the new MacBook Pros.

BlackMagic External GPU: Features And Design

Blackmagic improvises the gaming performance of the MacBook Pro lineup. Well, Apple is now officially producing eGPU’s (External Graphics Processing Unit). The Blackmagic External GPU is based on a Radeon Pro 580 GPU and comes with 8GB of video memory. According to Apple, the new GPU should give 2.8x faster graphics performance on the 15-inch MacBook Pro and 8x faster on the 13-inch.

As far as design ergonomics are concerned the Blackmagic external GPU sports a vertical orientation and it has space gray exterior finish. Furthermore, the external GPU has massive vents along the top and bottom and a deep red lighting towards the emanating from the bottom.

BlackMagic External GPU: Pricing And Ports

These new external GPU’s will be sold separately and are targeted towards users who want an improved graphics performance. Blackmagic has priced the external GPU for US$699.

This external GPU is capable enough to both consume and create VR content. The external GPU also features a good number of ports including a pair of Thunderbolt 3 Ports, 4 USB 3.1 ports, and an HDMI port.
