About a year and a half ago, Samsung has introduced the Experience UI replacing the old TouchWiz UI, which was well received by the users. Now, the company is finally bringing that same freshness to its mid-range smartphone as well.

Well, replacing the previous generation of Galaxy A-series smartphone, Samsung has launched a new mid-range smartphone with a bigger display and a modest chipset, this Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus.
Galaxy A6 Plus: Design
Samsung has dressed up the A6 Plus pretty well. The phone is tall and well rounded around the corners. The front-face is made of 2.5D glass, giving the phone a smooth and premium feel. The metal unibody construction with two thick antenna lines on the phone’s back gives it a unique look.
Well on the left side, we have volume buttons, one SIM card slot and other is microSD card slot. At the bottom, we have a microphone, a microUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Interestingly, the speaker alone has moved to the right side just above the power button. The Galaxy A6 Plus looks good and feels sturdy. All in all, the Galaxy A6+ scores very well in the design department.
Galaxy A6 Plus: Display
The A6 Plus features an Infinity display with a tall aspect ratio of 18:5:9. It’s a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels giving out a pixel density of 411 pixels per inch. The contrast and color accuracy of this display stand out really well, which can easily take on brighter daylight.
Furthermore, the display is rounded and because of which the contents around the corner of it look more pleasing to the eye. The unusual 18.5:9 aspect ratio of the display initially causes overlays to appear in some games, but this problem is easily overcome by dragging the navigation bar out and clicking on the Game Tools button.

Galaxy A6 Plus: Internals
The Galaxy A6 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. For a phone of its price, I was expecting it to be powered by a chipset more sophisticated than 450. Switching between apps isn’t smooth. Samsung UI manages to mask the slow loading time of apps by showing long animations, which is clever.
Playing games was also quite good, thanks to the inbuilt Game launcher app, but there was a slight heat up. All in all Galaxy A6 plus isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. Samsung could have gone with 6-series Qualcomm processor for better performance.
Galaxy A6 Plus: Camera
The camera on the Galaxy A6 Plus is pretty interesting. It has a 16-megapixel sensor paired with 5-megapixel depth-sensor on the back and at the front, it has a 24-megapixel sensor. There’s a single LED flash on either side.
The pictures taken on this smartphone are bright and colorful in the day and noisy and pixelated at the night. Coming to the front, the front camera fares slightly better, fails completely in focusing the subject.

Apart from the regular, the A6 Plus has three special effects. First one is Live Focus, which creates bokeh. Secondly, we have stickers to animate your photos and lastly, we have Bixby Vision which to be really frank I didn’t even touch. All said, the A6 Plus is good for all daytime, but in low-light or say night situations it is no good.
Galaxy A6 Plus: Storage, RAM, And Battery Life
Out of 64GB of storage, you will get to use around 50GB of storage and coming to memory management, Out of 4GB of RAM, you will get around 1.7GB to use and the 3500mAh battery is good enough to take you up to a day or a little more on a single charge, but it takes nearly 3 hours to charge, which disappointing.

Galaxy A6 Plus: Worth Noting
- The side-firing single speaker is clear and loud but get in the way of the index finger when the phone is held in landscape mode for video playback and gaming. It’s otherwise good for audio playback and ringtones.
- The Always On Display feature takes advantage of the sAMOLED screen’s, but do note it consumes good juice even when the phone is left untouched.
Galaxy A6 Plus: Is It Worth It?
The Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus gives out a great experience in terms of build quality, amazing display, and fluid UI, however, the camera is poor in low light condition and the performance of the phone is big let down, considering this retails at Rs 25,990.
This smartphone is definitely not a worthy buy. Instead, you can go for ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 or Redmi Note 5 Pro, which is a way more cheaper than Galaxy A6 Plus, if not, better add another Rs 5000 (approx.) and go for ASUS Zenfone 5Z.
