nubia Alpha Wearable Smartphone With Flexible OLED Display, eSIM Announced

Last year at IFA 2018, nubia teased the world’s most advanced wearable smartphone with a curved OLED display, dubbed as nubia Alpha. Well, the company has announced this wearable smartphone at MWC 2019 in Barcelona.

The nubia Alpha packs in a 4.01-inch flexible OLED display from Visionox (230% larger than standard wearable displays), powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform, coupled with 1GB RAM, paired with 8GB storage and all these are backed by a 500mAh battery, that offers  1-2 days of battery with regular use or up to a week of standby time.

nubia Alpha comes with support for 4G eSIM which lets native voice calling, in addition to WiFi and Bluetooth in the standard version that also lets you make calls when you connect it to the phone via Bluetooth. The device is water-resistant and the flexible display is coated in strong, heat-resistant Polyimide.

Furthermore, nubia Alpha has a 5-megapixel camera with an 82-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. It has clever UI shortcuts, so in order to take a picture, you just have to tap on the screen and long press records a video.

Speaking about features, this wearable includes exercise and health assistant, sleep, run tracking and music playback, along with heart rate sensor on the back. According to the company, the Alpha offers 1-2 days of battery with regular use or up to a week of standby time.

The nubia Alpha comes in Black and Gold colors, is priced at 449 Euros (~Rs. 36,210) for the standard version, 549 Euros (~Rs. 44,275) for the 4G eSIM version, while the 4G eSIM Gold version costs 649 Euros (~Rs. 52,340). It will go on sale in China first in April, with a European launch after, and will hit North America in Q4 2019.
