Google Pixel 2 XL Screen Burn-In Problem; Google Investigating!

Over a week now, people with Pixel 2 XL units began reporting an issue; Pixel 2 XL Screen Burn-in. So, when you look at the screen with a gray background, you can see faint outlines of the phone’s navigation button on the bottom.

Google Pixel 2 XL Screen Burn-In

This issue was first reported by Android Central’s Alex Dobie. So, what is a screen burn-in? So, when a portion of the display poses a ghost image onto the display. It’s usually most noticeable in the notification shade or status bar and sometimes with navigation buttons or even home screen icons.

However, Google acknowledged the issue and said, “The Pixel 2 XL screen has been designed with an advanced POLED technology, including QHD+ resolution, wide color gamut, and high contrast ratio for natural and beautiful colors and renderings. We put all of our products through extensive quality testing before launch and in the manufacturing of every unit. We are actively investigating this report.”

Many screens, especially OLED, do begin to exhibit burn-in over time, but that time span is usually long and could be measured in months and year, not in days of course. Well, if the screen burn-in issue goes genuine, it will a really big problem for the company. Stay tuned for more on this.
