Well, one of the most obvious competitors is the much expensive Pixel 2 XL. Both these smartphones offer clean and smooth Android experience. So, does the Pixel 2 XL justify its extra cost? Here is the detailed comparison between OnePlus 6 vs Pixel 2 XL.

OnePlus 6 offers a premium looking glass and aluminum build. The OP 6 has introduced a new design ergonomics to the OnePlus smartphone catalog. OnePlus 6 has a very well located fingerprint sensor, aligned just below the vertical dual camera setup. Lastly, you also get an iPhone X inspired notch with the ability to hide it. The Pixel 2 XL offers a unique glass and aluminum design. The major highlight of the Pixel 2 XL is a partial glass back and the design language of Pixel 2 XL depends mostly on personal preference. The display on Pixel 2 XL is far better than the OnePlus 6. The Google Pixel 2 XL features a 6.0-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The popular screen burn-in was an issue in the initial units, which has been resolved with new screens.

OnePlus 6, definitely has some edge over Pixel 2 XL as it has the new Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845, as compared to a generation old Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 on the Pixel 2 XL. Two major advantages of having the latest generation processor are improved speed and better efficiency. Well, practically speaking there is no noticeable performance difference between these two devices.

OnePlus 6 is available in 256GB+8GB, 128GB+6GB and 64GB+6GB internal storage and RAM variants. On the other hand, Pixel 2 XL offers 64GB+4GB and 128 GB+4 GB storage and RAM options. On paper, OnePlus 6 is far better than the Pixel 2 XL, but things like stock android, better optimization by Google and fastest and regular software updates keep the Pixel 2 XL strong. It is worth noting that, both these smartphones don’t offer an additional SD card slot.

OnePlus 6 Vs Pixel 2 XL: Camera

One of the important aspects of any smartphone is its camera, both these smartphones offer highly capable cameras. The OnePlus 6 comes with a dual camera setup which offers a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. The sensors used in this smartphone are Exmor-RS CMOS Sensors.

The Pixel 2 XL comes with a single 12.2 MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture with Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, phase detection & laser autofocus. Comparing the camera quality Pixel 2 XL definitely has an edge over the OnePlus 6 not just because of the camera hardware, but due to the deep AI processing in the Pixel 2 XL. It doesn’t mean that OnePlus 6 has a bad camera, it’s just comparing the pictures from the Pixel 2 XL look more good.

OnePlus 6 Vs Pixel 2 XL: Software

OnePlus 6 offers a nearly close to the stock Android skin, known as Oxygen OS. This custom skin adds up some minor features and offers users with little control over customization. The performance of the device is not at all affected by the skin. On the other hand, Pixel 2 XL comes with pure stock Android and Google’s promise to provide three major software updates. Pixel 2 XL is highly optimized as well and hence runs flawlessly.

As a conclusion, both these smartphones offer perfect bang for the buck. They definitely have some pros and cons. You can opt for Pixel 2 XL if a better display, camera, and faster software updates are your priority. While the OnePlus 6 is a beast when it comes to performance, multitasking and pretty good camera. Lastly, OnePlus 6 also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack while the Pixel 2 XL doesn’t.

The OnePlus 6 will be available for a price point of around USD 529 (INR 35,825 approx), USD 579 (INR 39,210 approx) and USD 629 (INR 42,600 approx) based on the storage and RAM variant you settle on. The smartphone will be available for sale from the last week of May. While you can get the Pixel 2 XL for $849 or $949. Comparing the prices OnePlus 6 definitely offers bang for the buck.
